Position: Machine Shop Maintenance Tech

Reports To: T&P Maintenance Supervisor
Status: Hourly
Summary: A Machine Shop Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of machinery and equipment within the facility including fabrication, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work as well as ground maintenance.
Essential Functions:
-
Interact with 120, 220, 277, and 480 single and three-phase voltages
-
Weld MIG, TIG, ARC
-
Operate a bench grinder(s)
-
Rebuild gear boxes and mechanical components
-
Adhering to safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.

Complete Lock Out Tag Out training
-
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues that arise within the machine shop and production facility

Dismantle, repair, and reassemble machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and machine shop instruments.

Fabricate metal using lathes and Bridgeport milling machine

Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.

Install, repair, inspect and test water, gas, and other piping systems including pipes, fixtures, appliances, and drainage systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
-
Skills in electrical and mechanical work, plumbing, carpentry and welding
-
Strong understanding of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions efficiently.
-
Experience using various hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment.

Familiarity with machine operation manuals, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.

Ability to effectively communicate with other technicians, supervisors, and production staff.

Experience in the installation and service of control wiring, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and servicing and repair of motors is a plus

Ability to weld the following: mig, tig, and stik

High School Diploma or Equivalent a plus

Ability to read, write, and understand English

Must not be afraid of heights
-
Must not be afraid of confined spaces

Ability to read micrometers, tape measures and calipers
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. frequently and more than 80 lbs. with assistance occasionally
Ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs. frequently and more than 100 lbs. with assistance occasionally
Ability to bend over and down, twist, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel frequently
Ability to climb frequently
Ability to hear and see
Ability to reach above shoulder level, in front of and below waist level frequently
Ability to hold, use fingers, handle, and grasp with both hands frequently
